I took an assessment for career skills inventory (work values) and my results showed= Auditing, Assuring Quality, Detecting, Developing and Attending to details. What knowledge of psychological theories and concepts analyze the meaning and significance of these results?
Self assessment tools to assess work skills are likely to provide us with details regarding various work practices including ethics, values, belief systems, work styles, attitude, etc. Psychological theories underlying this is the fact that such tools help integrate results in terms of one's capacities, interests, skills and abilities. For instance, a person who has an eye for detail is likely to succeed in careers that demand such a function at work such as surgeon, architect, engineer, designer, etc. Similarly assuring quality is something that could be of use in a job that has function of quality control in the job description per se. The reliability and validity of such depends on the standardization of the tool being used to assess these aspects. Moreover, they may help giving a better insight to an individual regarding the potential choices in which they are likely to succeed.
