The skin’s usefulness is more than just skin deep! Describe four ways that our skin is useful to us. What are the basic skin senses? Recently it was predicted that artificial and long eye lashes are detrimental to the eyes, because the eye pupils are no longer protected from dust and direct air into the eyes - do you agree? and what do you think?

Usefulness of skin:

i. It protects us from the external environment like the sun and protects us from absorbing substances which can harm.

ii. The skin detects different kinds of sensations such as heat, cold, pain and pressure.

iii. It is responsible in excretion of harmful substances with the help of sweat.

iv. Skin also helps to regulates the body temperature through the sweat glands and blood vessels.

Skin Senses: The four basic skin senses are touch, temperature, pressure and pain.

Artificial eye lashes study : The recent study showed that the long artificial eye lashes can cause problems to the eye. The artificial eye lashes of the normal length were beneficial for the eye, but the long artificial eyelashes direct the air towards the eye, this causes dust particles to carry into the eye and also dries the eyes.
