Explain purposive and quota sampling, when they are used, and compare their differences.
Purposive Sample
Purposive sampling is a non-probability sampling where the researcher trusts his instict and judgement while selecting the sampling. For example if a researcher stands at the road and selects people as and when he thinks they be a right fit for the survey. The sampling will be done most of the time on the available samples.
Quota sampling
It is a type of sampling which allots a % of sampling to all the concerned subgroups of the research question. For example, if a researcher wants to study the academic performance of the college students, the researcher should allocate sampling to all the parameters such as, family background, economic background, previous academic performance etc. Only then the overall result will be reliable and trustworthy.
