When is it more appropriate for a researcher to adopt a qualitative technique rather than a quantitative one? Explain with example.
Qualitative research is applicable when the research is descriptive and trying to find answers for what and why. Quantitative research on the other hand is applicable when the researcher is looking for numbers and statistics. It is used when the question is how many and how much.
For example if a researcher wants to study why people choose to eat outside, it is qualitative but if the researcher wants to know the correlation between the income of the households and their habit of eating outside, it is quantitative because the researcher is studying about the numbers thus answering the question how many and how much.
