Researchers generate long lists of articles they can use using keywords related to their research. They often decide to shorten the list of potential articles by eliminating all articles that are not published in prestigious or very well known research journals. What is your opinion of this approach to selecting articles for the literature review? Explain.
A research involves collecting articles which support the research study that is going to be undertaken. It is essential to have articles which are credible and are of high quality. Such articles can be found in reputed and prestigious journal. This does not mean that researches published in lesser known journals are of less quality, they could also be good studies, but chances are that researches published in reputed journals are more likely to be a better source, but sometimes a research study may be flawed in spite of it being published in a well known journal. Many a times, excellent studies can be found in lesser known journal, in that case, it may be considered as a source. It is important to verify the methodology, sampling techniques and other technicalities involved in the research before it is included as a source for research.
