Answer #1

Hip hop is a cultural expression that prioritizes voices from the margins of urban America as it is a black cultural expression in the form of rhythmic storytelling accompanied by highly rhythmic, electronic-based music. Hip-hop served its function by circulating news, ideas, and messages without the help of mainstream media. Hip-hop was influenced by artists and music genres both within and outside the US. Hip-hop accomplished their task by circulating messages and building a community amid racial and economic tension in NYC.
