According to Crocker & Major (1989) studies have concluded that blacks have levels of self-esteem equal to or higher than that of whites. Similar to this view, two major reviews have concluded that woman do not have lower self-esteem than men. Why is this conclusion significant to you? Explain your reasoning
One of the main reasons for this trend is because the oppressed will always have the high-esteem and that’s why they value themselves and fight for their rights. If they have low self-esteem, they wouldn’t consider fighting for their freedom from slavery and oppression. This helps them keep their motivations and hopes high thus gives them the strength for fighting that inequality and to stay alive. They also think of the next generation when they engage in fighting for their rights because most of the generations that fought for their rights didn’t live to experience or enjoy those rights when it was granted later. So, this selfless nature is another characteristics that helps them hold their self-esteem high.
