Which of the four basic approaches to treating criminals: Retribution, Deterrence, Rehabilitation and Incapacitation do you think are the most appropriate and why? Do you think race, religion and gender are factors considered in the enforcement of the above sanctions?

Of the four basic approaches to treat criminals: Retribution, Deterrence, Rehabilitation and Incapacitation, Rehabilitation is a different approach from the other three approaches. As Rehabilitation seeks corrective measures of improving the offenders life by assisting them to acquire life skills and attitudes ,and help them to live a productive life and avoid crime, thus, reduce crime in society,whereas,the other three approaches seeks only the punitive ways to deal with crime and to minimize crime in society.

Rehabilitation approach seeks for the factors involved for the causation of crime.These factors include personal factors, cultural factors, economic factors etc.It also includes race, religion,and gender as factors in the enforcement for seeking the actual reasons that prompted an individual to commit any crime.
