For your proposal, identify which project option you will be completing. Then, identify the particular issue or organization that you will be working on/with this semester. Provide a brief overview of the issue or organization and why you selected this particular topic. Discuss what your role will be this semester. In other words, what will you do for your service-learning project? Be as detailed as possible in order to give me a good sense of your project. Finally, think about where your project fits within our course context, and list a few key terms or concepts from the text that may relate to your topic.

Service Learning Projects

Service learning projects help me give something back to the world in my own way. I choose to do an unsolicited project proposal to the Center for Service-Learning and Civic Engagement about how to improve volunteering from students and how there could be many more avenues to volunteer.
Issue/Organization

In this semester I choose to analyze the reasons why students do not involve more in volunteering activities within or outside their communities (school). By knowing these reasons, I could come up with a comprehensive list of activities that can be done to ensure better volunteering. This list can be communicated to the Center for Service-Learning and Civic Engagement and implemented henceforth.
My role in this semester

I believe the following activities shall be part of my role this semester,

  1. Identify a buddy or committee to assist in data collection and sorting. Else identify constraints in going about with the project alone.
  2. Brainstorm and come up with strategies to approach the Center for Service-Learning and Civic Engagement
  3. Meet with and convince the Center for Service-Learning and Civic Engagement that this project shall be beneficial for the community in reducing costs and fostering a community mentality
  4. Get the proposal accepted and move into ways of implementing proposal along with the buddy or committee.
  5. Come up with a comprehensive but easy questionnaire to present to students
  6. Identify the experimental group and provide a questionnaire.
  7. Collect and sort responses.
  8. Analyze and come up with the results.
  9. Report the findings to the Center for Service-Learning and Civic Engagement along with feasible solutions
  10. Collaborate with the Center for Service-Learning and Civic Engagement to implement the solutions
  11. Measure the effectiveness of the project and document the lessons learned.
