Answer #1

Operationalization is the process is defining the measurement of a phenomenon which is not directly measurable though its co existence is indicated by another phenomena. For example a researcher would want to measure happiness in a person,he cannot measure it but make out from facial expressions or ask direct questions if they are happy, why and what makes them happy. It can be made out only through facial expressions or cjoice of words.

Operationalize uses differnet logic when using quantitative and qualitative hypothesis. For formall hypothesis concepts are represented emperically as numerical variables and tested using inferential statistics. When we talk about religion ,we cnnot get into his mind to measure but can be found by asking questions relating to religion, how much does he pray or how frequently he visits religious instituions.
