What are the central concepts of social development theories

Homework Answers

Answer #1

The three major concepts of social development theory are,

  • Social interaction’s role in cognitive development
  • Zone of Proximal Development
  • The More Knowledgeable Other (MKO)

The SDT ascertains that the social interaction plays a key role in the process of cognitive development. According to Vygotsky, the cultural development of a child depends on the inter- and the intrapsychological social levels. The ZPD is the learning status of an individual regarding a particular task. The MKO refers to higher understanding or ability of a person than the learner.
