My dilemma here: Is it okay to select an ethical approach to a situation based on the circumstances, or must you always ascribe to one school of thought all of the time? Could a manager be utilitarian in decisions regarding the company as a whole, but approach individual issues with a Kantian mindset?
It is perfectly ok to choose an ethical approach to a situation as long as no one is hurted because if you stick to one particular school of thought the chances are more that we may hurt someone in the process.
If a manager tries to work towards the profit of the company alone neglecting the wellbeing of the workers, he will have a troublesome environment and the won't show any interest in working for that company.
He has to be an Utilitarian for the company but a Kantian for individuals.
