how Muslim counter-narratives can be effective in shifting misconceptions and stereotypes about Islam

Answer #1

Counter-narratives brings out the real face of Islam such as The Holy Quran is addressed to the individuals, it doesn’t encourage a Muslim nation (Islamic State), it propagates brotherhood, God is the decision maker and not human beings, no one has the right to punish others, jihad is against oppression and injustice not on innocent people, Islam is democratic process where all have equal participation, people are not slaves to the rulers but equals and finally scholars from Islam should hold discussion with others who belong to other religions bot should not force them to follow Islam.

The counter-narrative is one of the most important piece of work which will give both the Muslims and non-Muslims a clear idea about what the real Islam propagates. Today, Muslims are considered as terrorists who brutally kill innocent people in the name of Jihad. However, the number of people who work under this umbrella is very less. Majority of Muslims are peace lovers and coexist with others without any problems. So, counter-narratives will bring a paradigm shift among others about Muslim people.
