Imagine there is a huge mess in your kitchen right now. How would each of Baumrind's three parenting styles respond to the bad behavior.?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

The three parenting styles of Baumrind are :

  • Authoritative parenting style , high on demanding and responsiveness.
    • Would require their kid or kids to immediately clean up the mess, may cut off their play time or be punitive in some other form,so that this bad behavior is not repeated.
  • Permissive parental style, not high on demanding but emphasis responsiveness.
    • Ask the kid or kids to clean up the mess, may not punishing but would make them understand their mistake through persuasion and love.
  • Neglect parenting style, neither demanding nor responsive
    • This bad behavior of the kid or kids will not be a big issue in such parenting style, they mostly neglect their children and such bad behaviors can be their part of life.
