3.Name the independent and dependent variables and how were they organized in Mark Smith study New Multiple choice Measure in Historical Thinking Process

Homework Answers

Answer #1

This particular model studied whether multiple-choice items from NAEP elicited the historical thinking processes they were designed to measure.

  • Independent variable- It would the multiple choice items used in the test by the experimenter as that it under his control. The think aloud protocols that were used to test historical thinking is the independent variable.
  • Dependent variable- It would be the differences in the cognitive ability of the students in response to the multipl choice items.
  • The responses from the students elicited 3 construct-irrelevant responses factual recall, reading comprehension and test-taking strategies.

"Money is the root of all evil" Create 3 specific measurable input variables (independent variables) and one output variable (dependent variable) that can be used to create a mathematical model. 1) Write those variables, explain them if necessary. 2) For each variable, expalin how you would measure it. 3) Is your model a cause and effect model (causal model) or not? Explain your reasoning in one sentence or less.

For a paper in my cognitive psych class i must identify the independent and dependent variables in the musics affect on academic performance. The testing procedure is 10 minutes of a Mozart piece, 10 minutes of a relaxation piece, and 10 minutes of silence before an IQ quiz (Stanford-Binet intellencence scale).Three tests were given, a pattern analysis test, multiple choice matrices test, and a multiple choice paper folding and cutting test (all three were at the .01 level of signifcance)....

Given here are the data from a dependent variable and two independent variables. The second independent variable is an indicator variable with several categories. Hence, this variable is represented by x2, x3, and x4. How many categories are needed in total for this independent variable? Use a computer to perform a multiple regression analysis on this data to predict y from the x values. Discuss the output and pay particular attention to the dummy variables. y x1 x2 x3 x4...
