Answer #1

According to Simmel, the blase is nothing but the consequence of coping up with city life. He argued that because cities are the centres of human civilisation, there are far too many activities that occur simultaneously for city dwellers to process. The blase then becomes the prevailing attitude and mode of conduct for city dwellers as attempt to mentally distance themselves from the complex and rapid changes.

The form the blade takes is usually an assumption of an intellectual yet distant character. One common way how this is exemplified is how little city dwellers make efforts to interact with their neighbours - people whom they might possibly see everyday but whom they know very little or nothing about.
