Jared Diamond's perspectives on progress

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Jared Diamond in book "Guns, Germs, and Steel" that won Pulitzer prize for him, put forwards his perspective on progress. He proposes the three major factors that contributed to the progress of imperialist European colonists were the guns, the warfare technology that they used to conquer their colonies. Germs, their biological weapon which they spread to minimize the population and swipe out cattles, so that their colonies were economically subdued under them. Steel the natural resource and technological advancement that helped them to set industries and other basic infrastructural framework needed for economic development and progress. Thus, the Europeans used these three factors to control other countries and establish their hegemony over them, and using the resources of their colonies the European imperialist colonizers developed and progressed.
