social justice and advocacy are important aspects of counseling. As such, groups exist that are dedicated to advocating for specific cultural groups. Research and choose one of these advocacy groups that you connect with. What is the name of the group and what issue(s) are they advocating?

An advocacy group that I was able to connect with is the American Mental Health Counselors Association. Their agendas include the the passage of Medicare provider recognition for mental health counselors and marriage and family therapists, along with increased professional unification among the states. Both these issues are of particular importance to me as my interest lies in marriage and family counseling and I hope not to restrict my practice to certain states only.
