Assuming that attention and consciousness are orthogonal, can you name examples of conscious processes that hardly require attention or of unconscious processes that require a lot of attention?
The relationship between attention and consciousness has been much studied. They go hand in hand But there are certain exceptions to this rule:
Consciousness with less attention:
- Driving while listening music and talking over the phone.
- Day dreaming while swimming.
- Doing household chores while talking over the phone.
Unconsciousness process with lot of attention:
- To recognize defense mechanism
- To recognize our unconscious biases
- to recognize the reflexive actions of the body
