Tobacco became the most important agricultural product and it was in high demand in England as a cash crop. The successful planting of tobacco depended on a Cheap source of labor. African were brought to the different colonies against their will to work as slaves on these tobacco plantation. The Virginia colony became dependent on slave brought from Africa . Thus , Virginia transformed from a society with slaves where some slaves worked to a slaved society where whole society was slaved for producing tobacco.
