From my perspective, the small female figurines most likely served as ideal representations of female beauty, and possessed religious and spiritual connotations. In fact, Dixson and Dixson (2011) proposed that the figures symbolized abundance and hope for well-nourished and reproductively successful communities as these were created at the time when Europe was undergoing a severe ice age.
