Discuss the DSM-V and how this is used to diagnosis disorders. Do you agree or disagree that individuals with mental disorders should be labeled? Support your response with information from our textbook.
DSM-V stands for Diagnostic and statistical manual for mental disorder. This is akin of handbook or guidebook used by healthcare professionals in USA and other countries while treating mental disorder patients. DSM contains description, symptoms and other criteria for diagnosis of mental disorders. No, I am not in support of the ides of labelling mental disorder people. Because labelling will separate them from us and the society's view will change. They will be discriminated and will be treated differently, which may be detrimental for establishing social order.
