Consider nature vs nurture in development. Are we as humans born to be bad or do we learn to be violent.
The nature versus nurture debate is among the oldest and most
widely discussed issues in psychology. The debate centers on
establishing the extent to which genetic inheritance and
environmental factors contribute to human development. When it
comes to deciding whether humans are "good" or "bad", it has been
established that a combination of both biological and social
factors combine to mold people into who they are and determines
their mindset when they chooses to engage in certain acts. Genes
may affect brain functioning in ways that either increase or reduce
the chances of individuals learning various complex behavior
patterns. At the same time, an individual's immediate physical
surroundings, social relationships, and cultural context will also
play a critical role in determining whether or not they engage in
deviant behaviour.
