What five things would be vital to know about a person if you really wanted to understand their personality? Why are these important?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Personality can be boiled down to five broad categories, now known as the Big Five. They are: Neuroticism—level of stability versus instability; Extraversion—tendency to be assertive, sociable, and energetic; Openness—disposition to be curious, open to new situations, and imaginative; Agreeableness—disposition to be cooperative, and supportive; and Conscientiousness—disposition toward purposeful, determined, and goal-directed behavior. These can be considered important because these is a large body of empirical support, demonstrating the Big Five model as a theoretical framework for the study of personality in different settings and populations.
