DuBois saw Reconstruction as the “mystic years” for few reasons that threatened the superiority of the White people, especially in the South. Ten years after the Civil War is considered as reconstruction era as the nation was rebuilding itself in all sense. Black people were granted freedom and the White political leaders in the North declared that all men are created equal. White people in the Black were not ready to accept this change in the society as they didn’t want the Blacks to be considered as equal to them. DuBois says that uneducated free blacks are less harmful than the educated black slave. White people across America, especially in the South unleashed lots of violence on the Black people as a sign of not accepting them as equals. They were also worried about the labor problem if the Blacks too become land owners. Black people had to fight one more century to become really free and politically strong in the United states.
