Propose a research study where you would need to use an independent t-test to analyze your results.

What are the variables? What means would be compared?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Independent sample t-test would be applicable if a researcher is doing an experiment on two groups, experimental group and control group. The experimental group will be provided with a manipulated variable ( independent variable) and the control group will not be given any manipulated variable. We can then collect data regarding the desired behaviour (dependent variable) and to compare the two groups, i.e.. the experimental and the control group; an independent sample t-test can be run to test whether or not there is a significant difference between the means of the two groups to see if the manipulated variable (independent variable) had any impact on the the outcome (dependent variable).
