If my research question is, Does obedience to authority control behavior? What would the independent and dependent variable be? What would be the possible operational definition? How would the level or conditions of the independent variable be discussed? As well as the scores and measures for the dependent variable? And how would the arguments support reliability and validity?

Answer #1

Obedience is compliance to authority is a fact it is a social influence the person is yield to obey orders given by authority,

The independent variable can be manipulated during an experiment and it is not affected by a dependent variable that is affected during an experiment, taking into account Milgram experiment where the teacher and learner was used to prove the experiment the learner was strapped to chair and the teacher is asked to give electric shock increasing voltages for the wrong answer without listening to plea by the learner that his life is at risk. The teacher is always a participant and who is guided to administer shock to the learner for the wrong answer given by him thus increasing the voltage for each wrong answer provided, the independent is the teacher who is administering electric shock for each wrong answer, The experiment shows that an independent variable is an authority who commands the dependent variable, Thus it proves that an ordinary person is going to obey the order even to the extent of killing an innocent human being, The dependent variable tend to obey the orders from authority if they believe he is right.

When a person is given an order by his authority he believes the authority is right thus carried out the command given to him they believe that the authority will take responsibility for the consequences of their actions,y

This shows dependent rely on authority for the validity of their action and rely upon the authority to take responsibility for their action,
