Experimenter's bias occurs when the experimenter unconsciously affects the research process or results of the study to confirm his/her hypothesis. While experimenters try to maintain objectivity in research, their personal biases often unconsciously affects the study. An experimenter's bias can occur in several ways. For example, a researcher may unconsciously provide subtle cues to the participants on what the research is about.

There are certain ways to reduce experimenter's bias in research. The researcher can conduct a double blind study in which both the experimenters and the participants are unaware about the purpose of the study. The experimental procedure and the interpretation of the results can be standardized to reduce any biases. The research can be designed in a way such that the interaction between the participants and the researcher are minimized.
