Psychosocial development theory of Erickson contains seven stages.

identity versus identity confusion is the fifth psychological stage of Erikson.

In this stage, adolescent tries to find his or her role in the society.

On the other hand, Marcia’s identity status theory extends and refined the work of Erikson.

There are four identity statuses occurs in the personality development of the individual.

These states are the achievement, moratorium, forecloser, and diffusion.

According to my view, Marcia's Identity status Theory is more relevant and effective because it is refined and extended theory based on Erikson's work.
