In your own words what are your parents and/or grandparents view on contraception. Do you think your parents/grandparents wish that the alternatives available today were available in their day? How might their lives be different if these alternatives were available?

Answer #1

My grandparents, at their time, were not aware of any concept known as contraception. And this resulted in 3-4 children that they would have. More so, my great grand parents had 9 and 10 kids each on maternal and paternal end. If the idea and the concept of birth control would have come up at that time, if they had lesser number of kids, the distribution of resources would have been better. Carrying a family of 10 is much more difficult than carrying forward a family of 3 or 4.

Though, they are more than happy with their lives, and when I ask them today if they could have been happier with one or two children less, they, at this stage, cannot imagine a life of that sort. Hence, they didn’t agree to the use of birth control at their times.
