Newborns who are suffering from the effects of substance use by their mothers use of recreational drugs can be comforted using psychological tools. The new born can be provided with a safe environment to live in which is also secure for them and provides psychological support for the child. The developmental milestones of that particular child should be monitored so that if any issues occur in the achievement of developmental milestones then they can be addressed at the correct time. For example if the child is not able to communicate properly then a nutritionist can be approved for proper guidance and diagnosis of the problem. It is very important for correct diagnosis of problems in children who have been suffering from the effects of substance use by their mother during the prenatal time period.
