Compare the instruments (kinds and materials used) in Chinese music with those from the gamelan styles we discussed in class 8. Similarities and differences
Hello!
Chinese music is so beautiful and specially it comes with various styles and themes and personally I think Chinese music does not need any specification or lyrics to describe the situation or feel like comedy, nature etc because certain tunes in the music can confirm you of that and the instruments used in Chinese music are beautiful but I want to tell you that it shares a few similarities with Indian music instruments .However the Chinese music instruments and The Gamelan music instruments are also quiet similar. This form or style of music is famous in Indonesia specially in places like Bali.wherw there is an involvement of music in most occasion. Now, let's see the similarities between instruments of both music
A flute is most common in both music and specially it is made of bamboo .In Chinese it is called Dizi I did not particularly find it's name but this flute is also made of bamboo and has some wooden carvings on them ,pan flute consisting of a number of flutesthat arw laid out in the form of a pan net to each other and it can release many different tunes at once and it is in a symmetrical form ,in Chinese it is known as Pai Xiao and in gamelan again i found no official name ,there is a simular drum in both musical styles known as Yaogu in Chinese and Ken dang in gamelan music ,it is a double sided drum without a stand basically played sitting on the floor or the drum can be placed on a table or so (this kind of very similar drum can be seen in Indian music Across the nation it is known as the DHOL or also known as DHOLKI it is widely used in all occasions and for weddings to welcome the guests ).There is also a small country styled violin which is known as Erhu in Chinese and in Gamelan known as Rehab it is not quiet the violin you imagine these instruments are very slender and small at the bottom (similarly also found in India and specially south India where it is known as PITULU, I'm writing this for your general knowledge referring this or not is totally upto you).I hope I was of some help to you .
Thankyou!
