Which of the following is a core concept of community policing? professional distrustful law enforcer concern for people

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Out of the four options given, the below two are concepts of community policing with the first one being the most important:

  1. Concern for people
  2. Law enforcer

Concern for people

Community policing essentially involves solving the problems of the community by playing the role of a law enforcer on a partnership basis. It is important for the people of the community to accept the police personnel as a part of the community in order for them to come to them with problems to arrive at solutions. This involves a level of trust and partnership on both ends. Also, it is important that the in spite of being a law enforcer, the police authority does not scare people away from the police. This will be counter-intuitive and lead to the failure of community policing.

Therefore, concern for people is the core concept of community policing.
