An assessment tool that I have used in classroom assessment is student self evaluation. This a process in which students identify their learning progress and gaps in their performance. Apart from the regular school based assessments that students are required to undergo, self evaluation helps students become more actively involved in their learning, encourages them to be motivated, and teaches them to reflect on their learning and take responsibility for it. In order to facilitate this process, I have coached students how clear expectations for student performance should be made, what the assessment criteria can be and how these can be applied in objectively assessing one's work.
