whether physical or its psychological consequences were more significant for the course of western history? Would you clarify which one for you was the most significant and why?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

The physical consequences were more significant for the course of western history as throughout the course of history the barriers to unity that were presented by European geography and limited technology made it difficult for a would-be conqueror to create a vast empire. This eliminated competitors and imposed his will over vast areas. These conditions led to the development of institutions and habits needed that are required for freedom, even as they also made Europe vulnerable to conquest and extinction.
