For the most part in Communication, we follow the rule: “Words are meaningless.” According to lecture and the Language and Meaning Google Slides, the exception to that rule is when the listener has a visual impairment.
Words are meaningless on their own without accompanied by body language such as, eye contact, postures, gestures, facial expressions etc. This would mean that a person with visual impairment may not be able to assess the body language of the speaker thus, would believe in the words. People who could see the speaker would be able to match their words with their body language to check for the congruency in their words.
