The word psychology was created by combining the Greek word psychē (meaning “soul”) with another word logos (meaning “speech, reason”). The initial connotation of psychology was thus the ‘study of the soul’. In today’s times however, psychology is best understood as the science of the behaviour and mental processes of individuals and groups that occur in different contexts. Psychology is further divided into several branches and specialisations such as Clincial Psychology, Organizational Psychology, Social Psychology earns several others.
