What is meant by technical eclecticism in multimodal therapy?
Multimodal Therapy was developed by a psychologist named Arnold Lazarus. Multimodal Therapy (MMT), emphasizes on the idea that there are multiple modalities to every individual. Human beings are biological creatures who think, feel, act, sense and interact. MMT focuses on addressing each of these modals in the process of treatment and intervention. Technical Eclecticism in MMT focuses on improving the ability to select the right treatment procedure for each individual. Every individual is different. No two people are the same. For instance, two individuals suffer from bipolar-1, the symptoms of both the patients differ from each other. They both cannot be exposed to same intervention procedure. Thus, technical eclecticism includes selecting and applying the right treatment procedure while addressing the multiple modalities of every individual.
