Our first discussion is based on the question presented in our textbook and your initial post should be about 100-150 words in length.

We like to surround ourselves with objects that appeal to us. These may be things we like to be able to see, listen to, words that we like to ponder, and ways of moving that give us pleasure. Some possible examples could be a beloved photograph or a favorite painting hanging on our walls or an album with music we like listen to as we drive or move. Other examples may be little sticky notes that we put up to remind us to think or act a certain way, our favorite film or books that fuel our imagination, or maybe a quilt that your grandmother made that covers you at night. In other words, it does not have to be a "great piece of art" to provide you pleasure. Please share one of your favorite things and why it is special to you.

Answer.

For me, a sens of aesthetics is deeply connected to the experience of pleasure. Pleasure in itself can take several modality- olfactory, visual, auditory, kinaesthetic, or gustatory, etc. to this end, art is about a kind of collection and consumption of materials. While it may be difficult to imagine a cup of coffee and a book in the garden as worthy of artistic label, I find that the sensuous experience which is created in the twinning of the taste and the rich and deep aroma of coffee with the imaginative and visual harmony of words in a book create a highly powerful imagery of pleasure and they make a lasting impression on the memory of the simple everyday experience of reading and drinking a hot beverage together against a rather infinite background of the outdoor.
