Why is it important to use schemas in your daily life? What are some things you need to be aware of so that the schemas you have developed and use don’t lead you astray?
Schemas are actually the pattern of thoughts or behavior which is based on our experience of life. It has a great impact on human life about the outside world or the things a person believes about himself. according to Jean Piaget schema is the knowledge and process of acquiring that knowledge. In a process of life, a person experiences a new ideas variety of experiences situation. Schemas developed based on these situations and remain in the memory.
As we know schemas impact the memories of past and also the things a person believe about himself.
There are a different kind of schemas such as person schemas, social schemas, self-schemas or event schemas, these all affect a person’s life regarding his view about others and himself, even social environment and pattern of behavior like what to do and when to do.
Schemas are such that a person has some belief and experiences in the past that pushed him to certain direction but it may not hold good the other time and may not be serving any good, so with experience and situation better to leave it because whatever was true yesterday is not true in present.
Schemas can be adjusted by assimilation and accommodation. It is better that new ideas to replace the pre-existing views and ideas. IT easier to change schemas during childhood or it becomes rigid with growing up and remain with the unconscious mind. It does not mean whatever leant yesterday hold good today. It prejudice people and prevent them to see the present. So it is better to grow our schemas to provide information through process of adaptation assimilation and accommodation and don’t let yesterday spoil our today
