One of the chief advantages of conducting mixed methods research is the possibility of triangulation. This means that researchers can use several methods, in the form of quantitative and qualitative data, to examine the same phenomenon. This is likely to increase breadth and depth of understanding and analysing the data, while tackling the weaknesses inherent to using a single approach.
