Family: Family is the major source of gender socialisation, from a young age, boys and girls are be given different toys to play with. Girls are be given dolls, and boys are given cars and motor bike toys to play. Girls are dressed in pink and boys are dressed in blue colours. Boys may be shown action movies and girls may be shown fairy tale movies.

Education: In education, boys are are often encouraged to pursue science, maths and engineering, which require logical and analytical abilities. Whereas, girls are encouraged to pursue careers in arts, humanities,drama etc. Boys are also expected to participate more in sports activities and girls in singing and dance.
