Advantages of anti psychotic medication-

1- They are beneficial in treating various etiologies.

2- Agitation and anger can be controlled upto some extent through anti psychotic medications.

3- Risk factors associated with neuroleptic malignant syndrome are comparatively lesser.

4- Extreme hostility can be minimised.

5- Bipolar disorders and mood disorders can be controlled.

Disadvantages-

1- Use if anti psychotic medications results in side effects.

2- They lead to lower seizure threshold.

3- It is also allied with tardive dyskinesia

4- They cause restlessness

5- Weight gain is an another negative outcome

6- It may invite diabetes

7- Possibility of sexual problems.

USE- Anti psychotics can be used in the treatment of paranoia, delusion, hallucination.

They are also used in getting bipolar disorder and add schizophrenia.

Antipsychotics can stabilise moods.
