If we are to look at Charles Mansons biological background, then we can notice that, he didn't have the social institution of a complete familial structure. He was born out of wedlock to a teen mom, and his biological father had refused to have relations with his own son, leaving a gap in Mansons parenting.

He did have a history of con artistry and schizophrenia.

He did show signs of conduct disorder and delinquency. A conducive and normal family background with loving and good parenting could have prevented the diathesis for a healthy state of mind.
