Bereavement is the period after a personal loss. Death is usually considered to be the biggest personal loss. Grief is experienced during this period. The consequences of grief and bereavement are; physical, emotional, social and psychological.

Physical consequences include; aggravation of a pre-existing health problem, weight loss, sleeplessness, fatigue, acquiring additional health conditions and etcetera.

Psychological consequences include; depression, somatoform disorders, emotional vulnerability, hyperventilation anxiety syndrome, post traumatic stress disorder, anxiety and etcetera.

Social consequences include; detaching oneself from the social circle, not feeling the urge to speak to anybody, losing interest in activities which was pleasurable at one time.
