Describe the difference between the need norm and the equality norm.

Describe the difference between the need norm and the equality norm.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Need norm refers to the allocation of resources according to the needs of the individual in a group, thus people with greatest needs are provided with maximum amount of resources to fulfil that need. Equality norm on the other hand refers to the equal amount of share in the profit without taking their contribution in mind. Both are contradictory terms as the former strives to satisfy everyone in the group according to their needs, the latter strives hard to maintain equality by eliminating the chance of one accumulating more wealth because they are physically, mentally and intellectually stronger than others.
