mod 7
A) Discuss what it means to accept a premise provisionally.
B) Define what it means for a set of premises to be inconsistent.
C) Outline and define all the guidelines of premise acceptability and unacceptability.
A. Sometimes, we experience doubt regarding whether we should accept a given premise or not. In such a case, one good option is to accept a premise provisionally. Accepting premises provisionally implies considering a specific premise to be true for the time being while being open to change it later. Using this technique is a helpful way to move the argument forward under conditions of doubt and discuss possible conclusions.
