What is the role of determinism in moral responsibility and personal freedom?
Since according to the doctrine of determinism all events, including human action, are ultimately determined by causes regarded as external to the will. Thus according to some philosophers determinism implies that individual human beings have no free will and cannot be held morally responsible for their actions. Since moral responsibility seems to require free will, determinism implies that no one is morally responsible for his actions. Thus according to determinism, human beings are not having free will i.e. freedom to do things, they are caused by external causes.
