Answer #1

Determination was one of Oedipus' primary character traits. Despite the important role of fate in his life, Oedipus remained driven, at times stubbornly, to pursue their goals. When Oedipus heard the oracles’ prediction that he was to kill his father and marry his mother, he was determined to prevent the prophecy. However, paradoxically, Oedipus’ sense of determination, which otherwise lead him achieve several goals eventually lead him to fulfill the prophecy.
