As per Tarrant Area Food Bank, approximately 280,000 Fort Worth residents live in a condition of food desert (situated a distance of mile or more from a grocery store). These re mostly low income group of Texas.
A recent study found 11 different zip codes in Tarrant County of Texas that fall in the category of food deserts and many zip codes in the City of Fort Worth which do not have a single grocery store in their community.
